U.S. Defense Chief in Israel For Meetings

 

US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter landed in Israel on Sunday night on the first leg of a regional tour of allied countries meant to calm fears regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JPCOA) recently announced to address Iran’s renegade nuclear program. Speculation has been rampant that Washington will offer Israel and its Arab allies packages of advanced weapons and security guarentees as “compensation” for the deal. But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told ABC News Sunday that he didn’t understand why this is necessary. “If this deal is supposed to make Israel and our Arab neighbors safer, why should we be compensated with anything?” he asked. “How can you compensate a country, my country, against a terrorist regime that is sworn to our destruction and is going to get a path to nuclear bombs and billions of dollars to boot for its terror activities against us.”Read More
