Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hosted visiting US Defense Secretary Ash Carter in Jerusalem Tuesday morning, skipping the traditional joint press conference and heading straight into a two-hour closed door meeting. However, Netanyahu told the press later in the day that he had reiterated his warnings about the danger posed by the recently announced Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) deal regarding Iran’s renegade nuclear program during the meeting, which followed two days of meetings Carter had with senior Israeli defense and security officials during which he was presented with specific details about Israeli concerns. Immediately after his meeting with Netanyahu, Carter departed for Amman for similar meetings with Jordanian officials before continuing on to Saudi Arabia. US Secretary of State John Kerry is also due to make a regional tour in the coming weeks to sell the JCPOA to deeply skeptical regional allies. Read More
