As the world waited Monday in expectation that a deal between Iran and the P5+1 nuclear powers (US, UK, France, Russia, China and Germany) would be announced, Israeli Defense Minister Moshe “Bogie” Ya’alon told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee “Even if there are some last-minute improvements, the agreement as we understand it is bad, allowing Iran to legitimately be a nuclear threshold state, with all that implies.” He added his worry that Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey woulk soon pursue their own nuclear arsenals to counter Iran, adding to Israel’s strategic challenges in the region.
