Iran flatly denies cooperating with US against IS
A senior Iranian official told local media on Monday that rumors of joint military operations with the US against the Islamic State (IS) terror militia were unfounded, but affirmed Teheran’s commitment to continue working with Syria’s Assad regime and the government in Iraq, through which many analysts believe the US and Iran are indeed coordinating their campaigns against IS. In related news, US Secretary of State John Kerry met with officials from Sunni Arab governments in Doha, Qatar on Monday, emerging from the meetings to make a statement to the press including assurances that the US will expedite sales of advanced weapons to the Arab states as well as increasing joint training exercises.
