Israeli Air Force Stages Large Training Exercise in Greece

The Israel Air Force (IAF) recently participated in a massive training exercise in Greece. The exercise saw several Israeli helicopters and their crews practicing maneuvers in mountainous terrain which is nearly absent in Israel but which is similar to the terrain in several of Israel’s neighboring countries. The famous Mount Olympus was at the center of much of the training, which also included war games in which pilots attempted to use the terrain to hide from their comrades in the air, to prepare them for the possibility that they would have to escape and evade capture after being shot down over enemy territory. Fixed-wing transport and surveillance aircraft also participated in the drills, alongside various military and security units from the Greek armed forces.
