Obama Continues Campaign to Sell Iran Deal

Obama (White House YouTube screen capture)US President Barak Obama gave another interview toCNN over the weekend defending the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding Iran’s renegade nuclear program. During the interview he said, among other things, that if Congress doesn’t pass the JCPOA, Iran’s regime would be “emboldened” to pursue its aggressive policies including the pursuit of nuclear weapons. He also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of what he characterized as unprecedented interference in US domestic politics by the leader of a foreign country. He also reiterated his position that the JCPOA is adequate to ensure that Iran does not deploy nuclear weapons and that if it somehow fails in that purpose the US will respond accordingly and defend Israel and its other allies in the region. Meanwhile, despite the announcement by prominent Democrats in the US Congress that they intend to vote against the JCPOA, analysts asses that there is not enough opposition to overcome a promised Presidential veto.
