Carson’s Scandal
Dr. Ben Carson is in deep trouble according to the media mavens. Did they discover his missing emails containing classified material? Was he caught trying to get the IRS to audit his political enemies? Did he threaten, if elected president, to use executive orders to ram through his agenda?
No, Carson’s “scandal” is bigger than any of those.
Asked on Fox News what he would have done if he was in a situation similar to what students faced at Umpqua Community College (UCC) in Oregon, Carson said, “I would not just stand there and let him shoot me. I would say, ‘Hey guys, everybody attack him!’ He may shoot me, but he can’t get us all.”
Left-wing reaction was immediate. “Outrageous!” “Unacceptable!” MSNBC commentators translated Carson’s observation as being critical of the dead students for being too passive. Of course, Dr. Carson meant no such thing.
He suggested that he would have led a counterattack against the murderer. You know — like Todd Beamer and the other passengers on United Airlines Flight 93 on 9/11, who saved our country from even more death.
Or like what Chris Mintz did at the community college where he charged the shooter and was shot multiple times. Or what the three young Americans, including Alek Skarlatos who attends UCC, did on a Paris train when a jihadist attempted yet another massacre of infidels.
The left gets very nervous when the sheeple, excuse me, people start talking about fighting back against evil. Military recruiters can’t have guns even when Islamists have declared that they are targets. The guard at UCC was allowed to have mace, but no gun.
There are armed guards inside banks and government buildings, but don’t you dare suggest that we should have them at schools or churches.
Kasich & Christ
Many Christians are sick and tired of the left distorting the Gospel to promote its left-wing, big government agenda. Unfortunately, liberals aren’t the only ones doing it.
Yesterday Ohio Governor John Kasich spoke to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Asked to explain his support for Obamacare’s expansion of Medicaid, Kasich said:
“Do you know how many people are yelling at me? I go out to events where people yell at me. You know what I tell them? . . . I say, there’s a book. It’s got a new part and an old part; they put it together, it’s a remarkable book. If you don’t have one, I’ll buy you one. It talks about how we treat the poor.”
I find his interpretation of the Bible a bit odd. The Bible is quite clear about how God defines marriage. Yet on that issue Kasich has surrendered, saying, “Well, I’m not fighting it. . . We’ve moved on from that.”
But Kasich evidently sees something in the Bible that I don’t — something that empowers big government, using all of its authority and force, to take resources from one person and give them to another.
At no point in the Bible does Jesus lecture Rome or Jewish leaders about the benefits of the welfare state. His commands to help the poor are aimed at us individually and at the church collectively.
But the confiscation of wealth, more spending and bigger, more powerful government reflect policies closer to the philosophy of Karl Marx than the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Whom Do You Trust?
President Barack Obama, White House press conference, Friday, October, 2nd: “Mr. Putin had to go into Syria not out of strength but out of weakness. . .”
Admiral Mark Ferguson, Commander of NATO Allied Joint Force Command, address to the Atlantic Council, Tuesday, October 6th:
“The language coming from the Russian military reflects the mindset and actions characteristic of direct challenge and confrontation with NATO. . . . This remilitarization of Russian security policy is evident by the construction of an arc of steel from the Arctic to the Mediterranean. . . . This is a sea denial strategy focused on NATO.”
ISIS Sought Dirty Bomb
I know many people make fun of “doomsday preppers.” They shouldn’t laugh. South Carolinians are finding out just what Mother Nature is capable of, to say nothing of those who wish to do us great harm.
Today, the Associated Press has a shocking report that Russian arms smugglers have repeatedly tried to sell radioactive material, and in some cases even “bomb-grade uranium,” to radical Islamists. Consider this excerpt:
“In wiretaps, videotaped arrests, photographs of bomb-grade material, documents and interviews, AP found that smugglers are explicitly targeting buyers who are enemies of the West. The developments represent the fulfillment of a long-feared scenario in which organized crime gangs are trying to link up with groups such as the Islamic State and al-Qaida — both of which have made clear their ambition to use weapons of mass destruction. . . .
“In one case, a middleman said it was essential the smuggled bomb-grade uranium go to Arabs, said Malic, an investigator in all four sting operations. ‘He said: ‘I really want an Islamic buyer because they will bomb the Americans.'”
If nothing else convinces you, this issue alone should make every American think about the urgent need to secure our borders.
Khamenei’s Clenched Fist
Iran’s supreme leader just formally banned any future negotiations with the United States. So much for Obama’s hope that his nuclear deal would “improve the hand of moderates” in Iran.
I’m not at all surprised. Khamenei got virtually everything he wanted out of this deal, so what else is left to discuss with the “Great Satan”?
