CELEBRATION
OF LIFE FOR STU WALKER TO BE HELD AT ISOTOPES PARK SATURDAY
A Celebration of
Life will be held this Saturday at Isotopes Park beginning at 9 a.m. to honor
and commemorate the life of long-time Albuquerque Isotopes, University of New
Mexico Lobos and NMAA public address announcer Stu Walker.
The general public
is invited to attend the celebration.
The third base gates at Isotopes Park
will open at 8 a.m. Saturday, and guests will be seated in the stands behind
home plate.
Parking will be on-site at Isotopes Park (lots A, B and C), in
CNM parking lots or in the Science and Technology parking lots. Guests should
plan their travel accordingly with kickoff for the UNM football game slated for
1:30 p.m.
Walker, 61, passed away Monday afternoon after a battle with
cancer. He had served as the Isotopes PA announcer since the team’s inaugural
season in 2003 and the University of New Mexico PA announcer for the better part
of the last 20 years. Walker also handled PA duties for numerous high school
events throughout the city and was a special education teacher at Manzano High
School in Albuquerque.
