Governor Susana Martinez Orders Flags Flown at Half-Staff in Honor and Mourning of Albuquerque Police Officer Daniel Webster
Santa Fe, NM — Today, Governor Susana Martinez issued an executive order for flags to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, November 3, 2015 in honor and memory of Albuquerque Police Officer Daniel Webster.

EXECUTIVE ORDER 2015-020
FLAGS FLOWN AT HALF-STAFF IN HONOR AND MOURNING OF ALBUQUERQUE POLICE DEPARTMENT OFFICER DANIEL WEBSTER
WHEREAS, on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, Albuquerque Police Department Officer Daniel Webster was shot during a traffic stop, and later died of his wounds; and
WHEREAS, Officer Webster, a nine-year veteran of the Albuquerque Police Department, served with honor and distinction, both as a detective and as a patrol officer, and was recognized as Officer of the Year in 2013; and
WHEREAS, before his career in law enforcement, Officer Webster served our country in the United States Army for 20 years as an Airborne Infantryman and a Ranger; and
WHEREAS, Officer Webster is survived by his children, and his wife, Michelle, who is also a dedicated law enforcement professional, serving as a deputy with the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office; and
WHEREAS, Officer Webster’s tragic loss shows how our law enforcement professionals put their lives on the line every single day to keep our families and communities safe;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Susana Martinez, Governor of the State of New Mexico, by virtue of the authority vested in me by the Constitution and Laws of the State of New Mexico, do hereby order that all flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, the day Officer Webster is laid to rest, in honor and mourning of his service and sacrifice. The thoughts and prayers of the people of New Mexico go out to Officer Webster’s loved ones in gratitude for his service and in mourning for their loss.
