What Are You Afraid Of?

Isaiah 54:17 “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, And their righteousness is from Me,” says the LORD.

Back in 2002, I was a chaperone for Gabi’s (my daughter) pre-K class on a trip to “Bear Country” in Rapid City, SD. I had three little ones in the back seat. Before we left the church parking lot, we prayed for the Lord to bring a bear close enough to see. As you can tell by the picture, He sure did!!! The little girl nearest to the bear asked in a shaky voice, “Can we go now?” I told her it was okay and the bear couldn’t get her. She said, “Yeah, but can we go now?”

That bear couldn’t get her unless she opened the window and let him in, but she was still afraid he would get her.

In Judges 7:9-11 we read about Gideon. The Lord told him that He’d delivered the camp of Midianites and Amalekites into his hand, but if he was afraid, to go down to the camp and listen to what they were saying. Gideon and Purah, his servant heard them saying that God has delivered Midian and the whole camp into their hands.  Gideon had 300 men. The camp had men more numerous than sand!

What are we so afraid of? Our Father, the Creator of all things is bigger than any fear we could possibly have.

Sometimes we are scared of the world and what men will do to us.

Galatians 1:3-5 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to who be glory forever and ever. Amen.

Some are afraid of death and dying.

Hebrews 2:14-15 Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Some are afraid of the devil.

Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

Colossians 2:15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.

1 John 3:8 He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

The devil is a defeated foe. He has no power over you unless you give it to him.

Revelation 12:11 And they overcame him (the accuser) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony and they did not love their lives to the death.

Luke 10:19 Jesus said,”Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Trust Him and his great love of and for you.

1 John 4:18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

For He says:

Isaiah 41:10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Isaiah 43:1 But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, (Put your name here.) And He who formed you, O Israel, (And here.): “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.”

This is my word to you today dear ones:

Isaiah 35:4a Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “Be strong, do not fear!”

Hear the Father saying to you, “Don’t be afraid! I have done everything for you. I love you. Trust Me.”

Amen.
