Once again the terrorists have struck and people are left with the question: What will it take to put an end to this evil, murderous group who are so determined to take away our freedoms and change the way we live forever?
I don’t think we can afford to wait another year to come up with an answer. We need a solution now, not after a new President is elected. My heart aches for the people of Paris who are suffering, but I can’t help remembering when George W. Bush asked for help from all our allies when the war on terror began in Iraq. Isis maybe never would have existed if we had all joined together to defeat the terrorists then….but we can only learn from what happened in the past. A clear and present danger prevails now that must be defeated.
Other countries, like France, have been attacked and vowed to put an end to Isis, but so far it is not being done. Even Russia teaming with Syria and America “leading from behind” has not stopped the attacks. The enemy is infiltrating countries along with those looking for refuge. Some say World War III has begun, and I fear they are right.
Another question for America is: What will it take to turn our country back to God?
Whether some refuse to admit it or not, our country was built on Biblical principals and on the foundation of faith. A foundation built on solid beliefs that all men are created equal and entitled to certain rights….not governable by man but endowed to us by our creator….God. If we are to hold onto these rights, then we best be looking to our creator for solutions to this question and many others.
As Christians, we have a responsibility to ourselves and God to stand up and fight for our freedoms and the safety of our family and friends. America has always been looked up to as most powerful. This power comes not only from our tremendous military, but from the faith of our people. People who put their trust in an all-powerful God who saw us through every previous war, the dust bowl, droughts, the great depression, 9/11, economic stress and everything the world has thrown at us. Everything the devil has used to try to defeat us, God has used to make us stronger!
Matthew 7: 24: “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”
God has gotten us this far and He will lead us to the defeat of Isis and every other crisis the devil throws at us, if we but keep the faith. Faith itself is a gift from God and grows with much use. Prayer, faith and the Word of God spoken at the right time in every situation, are our most powerful weapons against those who wish to defeat us. let us not defeat ourselves by not using them.
With great interest, I have watched and listened as the race for the next President unfolds. Which leads to another question: What kind of person will it take to lead our country out of our current situation?
The desires of the people are revealed by the candidates they endorse. The front-runner so far in most polls, Donald Trump, echoes and gives voice to the people who are angry and upset by the previous political circus we have endured for so long. His answer to Isis is for our military to override the President and just start bombing. According to him he is the only one with answers that will work. His answer though, whenever asked about his faith is: “I’m a Presbyterian.” His faith it seems is “too personal” to share even a favorite Bible verse. Do we really want this angry, critical businessman running our country and making deals with our enemies?
Most all of the other candidates disagree with Trump and most of his policies, though his idea to build a wall along our southern borders is appealing to some. Many of them have good ideas and have voiced their faith in God.
The one in second place (first in some polls) is Dr. Ben Carson, a retired neurosurgeon who puts his faith in God before his desire to be right. He is not loud or obnoxious in giving his opinions and respects the rights of those who disagree with him. Some feel he is too quiet and low-energy to be President. The thing about Ben Carson is: he has a testimony….a testimony that has been challenged by the media and Donald Trump. He has been questioned on every level about his faith with questions and accusations most of us would find beyond insulting, and he has answered every one without giving in to their desire to see him lose his temper. I’m not positive yet, we will see how the primary voting goes, but it just might take a brain surgeon to get our country back to God and rid us of Isis in the process.
Whatever our political beliefs, let us pray fervently for our country, our leaders and the victims of terrorism everywhere. It will take an act of God to bring us back to being a truly United States….and He acts everyday, to keep us on track and to save us…. one sinner at a time!

Betty Fritz
My name is Betty Fritz. I was born and raised in Texas but have resided in Elkhart, Indiana for the last 25 years. My husband is a Hoosier so that’s how we wound up here. We have two daughters and a son plus 6 grand kids…..3 boys and 3 girls. I retired last year after working for 24 years at Elkhart Child Development Center. I’ve been writing since a teenager and have taken several writing courses. I enjoy writing short stories. I wrote a book of poems, RHYMES OF THE TIMES, which was published a few years ago. I have written countless songs, a few for which demo recordings have been made. Recently I’ve been writing blogs..most of them about my faith and things the Lord has taught me in my Christian life over the last 51 years. My inspiration comes from my personal relationship with Jesus Christ and my desire to see that my grandchildren grow up in a Christian nation. My goal is to bring glory to Him and help others to see that there is POWER in the name of JESUS!
