Russian warship fires warning shots at Turkish vessel
Tensions between Turkey and Russia went up another notch on Sunday after a Russian warship in the Aegean Sea fired what it described as “warning shots to avoid a collision” with a Turkish fishing vessel in the area. The Kremlin said the Turkish ship did not respond to radio contacts, leaving the Russian ship with no choice. In related news, the Russian navy has deployed to additional missile cruisers to the Black Sea in a move the Kremlin said was meant to bolster the campaign against the Islamic State (IS) terror militia in Syria but which analysts said was sure to make Turkey nervous. Finally, an Egyptian delegation was in Moscow over the weekend for high level talks on building a nuclear power plant in Egypt and other joint projects.
