“Saving America”

What must we do to save our offtrack nation?
What’s going to happen to America?
Everybody has an opinion. But which opinion is right?
On New Year’s Eve night, 2007, I was listening to a variety of late-night radio talk shows that invited listeners to weigh in with their own predictions for the New Year. Interestingly enough, most of those opinions had to do with catastrophes like nuclear war, terrorist attacks inside the U.S., and of course, the ever popular threat of global warming.
Now, whether you believe any of these or not, one thing is clear – most people appear to believe that things in America and around the world are not going to get better – and they might even get worse – a lot worse!
But why do so many Americans think and believe we have bad times ahead of us? It’s because deep in our very souls we know that our America, our nation, is way off track. We’ve lost our compass, and, as a nation, so many are looking for solutions in all the wrong places.
And me, what do I think?
I think we in America are at a serious crossroad, and whichever road we choose to take will determine the destiny and the very future existence of our nation.
But this one thing I do know:
Our only hope to save this America we all know and love is to,
as a nation,
turn back to God
AND
If we the people want to stay on the right road
and help make a better America,
it will only be with God’s Mighty Help.
Now am I the first person to say that? Of course not. People all across America today, the large majority of Americans, believe that we must get our great country back on track, and that it can only be done with God’s help.
And our founding fathers felt that same way.
So, in 2008 I wrote my book, “Saving America”; and to the reader today, it’s like I wrote it just yesterday. The following is an excerpt from my book, Saving America”, published in year 2008. Take a read and tell me what you think.
It was patriot Benjamin Franklin in 1787, in a speech to the Constitutional Congress, who said this:
“I have lived, sirs, a long time. And the longer I live the more convincing proofs I see of this truth – that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, it is probable that an empire cannot rise without His aid”.
Benjamin Franklin believed that our new free American could only be successful as a nation with God’s help. In that same speech he went on to say we had been assured in the Sacred Writings that:
“Except the Lord build a house,
they labor in vain that build it.”
Psalm 127:1
Benjamin Franklin believed that not only did we need God to help us build America; more than that – he believed that
without God we could not build America.
And how did our other leaders respond to Franklin’s statement regarding our great need for God in America? You say, “They threw him out on his ear. They told him they could not allow God to lead our nation – that would somehow take away our American citizen’s freedom of religion.”
Right?
Wrong.
When Franklin finished his speech, the delegates to that Congress sat for a moment, silent, then up stepped James Madison who today is known as the “Chief Architect of our U.S. Constitution”. He moved that Franklin’s appeal for national prayer be established. His motion was seconded by Edmond Jennings Randolph of Virginia who further moved that:
“A sermon be preached at the request of that convention on the Fourth of July, the anniversary of our nation’s independence,
AND
that prayers be offered every day to Almighty God
at the beginning of each of their meetings.”
And that’s exactly what they did. Every day their meeting started with a prayer, asking God to watch over them and to help them work to form this new nation.
And God Did It!
You see, our founding fathers knew just what it would take to build a nation and to survive as a nation. By the way, both Houses of our U.S. Congress, even to this very day, always open their sessions with a Word of Prayer.
Off Track Point One
How is it that Congress prays every day to God for His Special Guidance,
but
prayer is forbidden in our schools?

If Congress believes prayer to be vital for the success of their task,
why don’t they also believe prayer to be vital for the success
of our children in our public schools?
Now, if this mentioning of God in America by our founding fathers makes you mad or upset – so be it. But the historical truth is there for all to read. And because our founding fathers sought God’s help in building America, He helped them – and today America is the greatest and most successful nation in the world – And that’s no accident!
But here’s my question –

“At the rate we are going today,
just how long will America continue to be a great nation?
100 years?
10 years?
1 year?
Are we
already finished?”
I would appreciate feedback. What do you think we must do?
