The same power

power

A couple of years ago the leader of our Bible study group asked us what we thought was the most powerful thing in the world. The answers we gave him ranged from tsunamis to earthquakes and nuclear weapons. Kevin asked, “What about raising someone from the dead?” And then went on to tell us that if we have Jesus in our hearts, and if Christ is in us, then we have that same power.

You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.  But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness.  And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you. ~ Romans 8:9-11 +++

Jeremy Camp is becoming a favorite of mine when I am listening to the radio these days. His song, “Same Power” has led me to write of this. From the song, these lyrics are always amazing me: “The same power that rose Jesus from the grave, the same power that commands the dead to wake, lives in us!” “The same power that moves mountains when he speaks, the same power that can calm a raging sea, lives in us!” “He lives in us!”

It soothes my soul to hear these wonderful words and I can listen to this song and those words again and again.

“We have hope, that His promises are true, in His strength there is nothing we can’t do.”

Wonderful words that should make every one of us live to be more Christ-like each and every day. After all, “there greater things in store.” This power of Christ lives in us. Christ lives in us. “He conquers our enemy” and that enemy is Satan and sin.

I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power  that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.  ~ Ephesians 1:19-20 +++
