What If?

WHAT IF? By Libbie Shaffer, I’m a small town girl preparing to move to the big city. I drink too much coffee and I love Jesus. Here’s a glimpse into my crazy life………

I had lunch with one of my childhood best friends today, we spent most of the time just catching up and talking about our walks with God. At one point we found ourselves talking about where we think our lives would have been if we hadn’t made certain decisions or hadn’t had certain friends.

This is a subject I think about a lot. What would my life be like if I hadn’t become friends with that one person in middle school? Where would I be today if I hadn’t made the decision to go to that Bible Study? Would I have made the same mistakes had I not surrounded myself with certain people? Would I have made the decision to move away if I hadn’t had the guidance of my mentors?

Sometimes I want to know what my life would look like if I had made different decisions. I’ve always been the type of person who has a “no regrets” mentality. It’s in the past, it can’t be changed no matter how much we wish it could be. But that doesn’t mean I don’t wonder how things could have played out differently.

That being said, I am so glad for everything that has happened in my life. I know I would not be the person I am today had I not gone through some of the struggles I went through, I also wouldn’t be the same person if I hadn’t gone through the happy times I went through. I love seeing how far I have come in my life and in my walk with God.

I am so thankful for everything I have gone through. I am so glad for everything life has thrown my way. No, I haven’t always made the best decisions, but that’s life. And life isn’t perfect. I’ve made stupid decisions and I’ve made smart ones, everyone has, they seem to balance each other out. You can’t have the good without some bad, and that’s okay, because they both make us who we are.
