Just days after the US backed off on a threat to impose new sanctions on Iran over its violation of UN Resolutions regarding its illegal ballistic missile programs, the Islamic Republic brazenly broadcast video footage of an underground facility housing some of its most advanced missiles. The bunker housing several Imad missiles, which has a range of 1,700 kilometers and is capable of delivering a nuclear payload to a target, was shown being inspected by parliament speaker Ali Larijani and other regime officials. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, described as a “moderate” by several Western governments, lashed out harshly against reports that the US planned to sanction his country over the recent violations of UN resolutions, saying such a move would be “hostile and illegal” and declared his intention to enlarge the ballistic missile program.
