Standing Up For America

 What happens to people in America today when they stand up and speak out about morality and virtue?

 Think about this – even though our America was built on a foundation of high character and moral ideals, today if you stand up publicly and speak out about morality and virtue, so many people just scoff at you – they call you a prude or an extremist. The only time it is acceptable to use God’s name publicly in America today is:

  • When we use His name in vain, or in a generic way that really doesn’t refer to Him as the One Living God.
  • We can display God’s name in our money, “In God We Trust”, as long as we don’t seem to really mean it.
  • We can use God’s name in our Pledge of Allegiance, as long as we really don’t make our nation be under God.
  • Our national leaders can take an oath of office using the phrase, “So help me God”, just as long as they don’t really bring God into their office.

Offtrack Point In America Today  Why do we try so hard to leave the appearance that         God is our Leader through our pledges, our oaths, even what’s written on our money;                           why do we even bother if, in truth, we’re really not following God?                                                       Do we think that God doesn’t see the real truth?                                  Do we really believe that we can fool Him with our double talk?

In 1787, when our 13 colonies were still a part of England, a Professor Alexander Tyler wrote about the fall of great nations, and one nation in particular – the Athenian Republic, that had fallen over 2,000 years previous to that. Almost prophetically, Dr. Tyler said this:

“The average age of the world’s greatest civilizations has been about 200 years. These nations have progressed through the following sequences –

from bondage to spiritual faith;

from spiritual faith to great courage;

from great courage to liberty;

from liberty to abundance;

from abundance to selfishness;

from selfishness to complacency;

from complacency to apathy;

from apathy to dependency;

and from dependency back to bondage.”

 Now the question is this – “Is this statement true for America?” And if it is – just where on this sequence of progression is America today? AND what must we do now to save our America?

Stop killing our innocent unborn children

    In 1973 a decision was made in our Supreme Court that was so cruel, so harsh, that I truly believed it would never last. It was a ruling that gave Americans the legal right to murder a precious, innocent child. It’s called “abortion” (sound so much cleaner that way) but we all know its murder – a life is being taken. But here we are 35 years later and this baby killing is still legal in America.

“But”, you say, “What does abortion have to do with the decay and destruction of America?”

It plays a great part in our growing disrespect for each other because if I have no respect for the life of a precious, innocent child, how can I have the proper respect for anyone or anything else. Until we abolish abortion in our nation, our epidemic of disrespect in America will only grow.

Offtrack Point In America Today  If the mother of an unborn child can kill her child by abortion, and it is legal, how is it that a mother and her unborn child can be killed by someone by an act of murder; how is it then that the murder of the baby is a homicide. In both instances the child was killed.

More of “Saving America” next time. Until then, pray for our nation!
