The Bible tells us, there is a time and a season for everything under the sun. A time to laugh and a time to cry, A time to speak and a time to be silent, etc.
In our country right now everyone seems to find it a time to voice their opinions, force their views and take the law into their own hands. Respect and tollerence of our fellow humans seem to be a thing of the past. Really, I think it’s more a time that we should be looking out for each other, offering encouragement and being a blessing to others.
Now is the time to preach and a time to heal; a time to revive and to be revived. Time itself will run out one of these days. I don’t want to look back and say, “If only I had….” Too many lives are at stake and too much time has been wasted trying to settle our problems when so many do not see the solution which is right before our eyes. Are we unable to see the forest for the trees?
Romans 13: 11 “….it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.”
Ephesians 5: 14-20 “Wherefore He saith, Awake, thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. 15 See then that ye walk circumspectly (carefully) not as fools, but as wise. 16 Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 ….be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18 And be not drunk with wine wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. 19 Speaking to yourselves in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; 20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
2016 promises to be a time of change for our country….hopefully changes for the good. It is time for us who love the Lord to share that love and speak out in favor of the changes we desire. It is time to get excited about the things of God. Too many of us have been sleeping and not paying attention to what’s happening in our world, and our own communities. The harvest is surely plentiful, but the workers are few. It must not be so, if we are truly to turn this country around and see positive changes made. We must get busy bringing in the sheaves.
We know Jesus; we’ve seen Him work in our lives and others. Let’s ask Him to fill our hearts with joy and our words with praise and thanksgiving. I like to sing while I’m cooking, and cleaning is much easier when my heart is lightened and encouraged by the words of a beloved hymn. When the Roll is Called Up Yonder, Onward Christian Soldiers, He Lives….so many to choose from. My body might be tired by the time I get the dishes done, but my soul is turning cartwheels.
Let us all wake up to the reality of need in the world around us and reach out to those who are unaware of the promises of God. May His light shine in us so that they too can know the joy of serving a Lord who loves us and wants only the best for us all. It is time to sing praises to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Let us wake up and share what the Lord has done….and can do. It is time.
