Election Results in Iran Show Strenthening of Moderates

Final results began trickling in Monday morning from the election held in Iran on Friday, with “moderates” led by President Hassan Rohani scoring victories in several races. However, analysts openly wondered if the results would make any difference in a country governed by a military dictatorship where Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khameni has the final say in all matters and his supporters in the Revolutionary Guards control most of the economy and security apparatus.
