Iran sends strong signal of contempt for the US
Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei personally pinned medals on several Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) commandos during a ceremony this week to honor them for capturing ten American sailors and their boats when they drifted into Iranian waters due to a navigational error. Analysts commented that the high-profile event was meant to send a signal to Washington that despite the recent nuclear deal the clerical regime still views the US as its enemy, as well as signaling to the regimes domestic political opponents and the Iranian people generally that the regime still rules with an iron fist and will not tolerate dissent.
