New Mexico Senate Boss Michael Sanchez also defends Drunk Drivers….When does this conflict of interest end? I just had another person say to me nothing will change for the good in New Mexico until Sanchez is voted out. FGGAM NEWS just received this from The Republican Party of New Mexico:
Democrat Leader Brian Egolf’s Law Firm Represents Seven-Time Repeat DWI Offender
Santa Fe, NM – While Democrats hold up legislation that would toughen laws against DWIs in New Mexico, the law firm led by the top Democrat in the House, Rep. Brian Egolf, was busy putting a seven-time repeat DWI offender back on the roads.
Cruz Holguin has been charged repeatedly with DWI offenses over the years, and late last year was charged yet again with Aggravated Driving while under the Influence of Drugs or Alcohol, blowing higher than a .16 on a breathalyzer test on his seventh consecutive DWI offense. He was also charged with driving without a license, which had been revoked following an earlier DWI charge, and possession of an open container.
An attorney from Egolf’s law firm represented him in court and on Wednesday, got the charges against Holguin dismissed.
“Egolf voted against HB 81, which would toughen laws against driving under the influence with a suspended license, and now it’s clear why,” said Republican Party of New Mexico Spokesman Tucker Keene, “He’s voting to protect the interests of his law firm’s clients, not the interests of the voters who elected him.”
Full details on Holguin’s case can be found here.
