The Holy Spirit By Jeanne Theriault
It is impossible to follow God unless we are led by the Spirit. When we give our lives to Christ, that’s when the Holy Spirit comes and lives in us. Jesus promised us the Holy Spirit
John 14:15 If you love me , you will obey what I command 16 And I will ask the Father and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. 17 The Spirit of truth. The world cannot except him because it neither sees him nor knows him for he lives with you and will be in you.
The Holy Spirit is our Counselor who guides us in our everyday lives. One way is by convicting us of sin.
John 16:15 But when he, the Spirit of Truth comes , he will guide you into all truth.
Romans 8:16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.
The Spirit works through our conscience to make us aware of sin in our lives. Romans 8 tells us that there is life through the Spirit. It helps us to stop sinning and to do things to please God. It also helps us to pray.
Romans 8:26 In the same way the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
The Holy Spirit helps us and intercedes for us. As we allow the Holy Spirit to show us all truth and teach us to live a Godly life.
We need to make sure to listen to His voice and not the voice of our own desires. One might ask, how can you tell if you are being led by the Spirit? By the fruit of your life, your attitude and your actions.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. 25 Since we live by the Spirit let us keep in step with the Spirit.
Here are some of the characteristics of the Holy Spirit
The Spirit testifies: John 15:26 When the Counselor comes whom I will send to you from the Father, the spirit of truth who goes out from the Father he will testify about me.
The Spirit strengthens and encourages: Acts 9:31 Then the church throughout Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace. It was strengthened and encouraged by the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 2:10 The Spirit searches all things even the deep things of God.
Quench not the Spirit: Matthew 12:31-32 And so I tell you every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men , but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven
1 Thessalonians 5:19 Do not put out the Spirit’s fire.
The bible teaches us to listen to His still small voice which is the Holy Spirit , when our hearts are in the right place we will hear him speak to us.
Isaiah 30:21 Your ears shall hear a word behind you saying this is the way walk in it.
Thank you Lord for you sent us your Holy Spirit to helps us, guide us, to comfort in time of need, to strengthen us and most of all to have fellowship with Him. We will not quench the Spirit’s fire , we welcome the Holy Spirit into our lives to change us and transform us for where the Spirit of God is there is liberty and healing so therefore we receive in Jesus name! Amen
