What is your first response when worry invades your thoughts?
If we entertain the dread-filled thoughts, our minds will gravitate toward being filled with fear.
Thank God, we can stop those thoughts and take them captive by turning them into prayers. God cares about everything that concerns us.
I hear many believers say, and I’ve been guilty of saying this myself, “Oh God’s not concerned about _______ (fill in the blank), when there are greater needs in the body of Christ.”
True, there are great needs and concerns in the body of believers that we need to pray for and even meet those needs whenever possible. However, that does not discount other concerns we have that arise in our daily lives.
God cares about our everyday lives.
He’s concerned when we stub our toe. Lost our glasses or keys. Miss an appointment. Stuck in traffic. The list can go on and on.
I met with my regular prayer partner and she shared how she has not heard from her 20-year-old son who lives in another city for sometime. She’s sent him texts and called, but he had not returned a call or replied to a text. Because she had not heard from him, of course, moms and dads you know how she felt. Her concerns started to move into worry. We prayed and took her worries to the Lord.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” Philippians 4:6 (NKJV).
Six hours after praying for my friend’s son to respond to her, I received a text that she had talked to her son. Praise God!
My friends, God cares for everything that concerns us. We are to take EVERYTHING to Him in prayer with thanksgiving. Let’s turn our worries into prayer!
