Listen Here to My Message on Amazing Grace What is so Amazing about Grace?
He was in his early 20’s when he made his way to Africa where he became involved in a lucrative enterprise called “slave trade”.
As a young man, he was known for his constant ridicule and mocking of those who were religious. In fact, history records that he was heard mocking Christ just hours before the ship he was on, sailed into a very dangerous storm. On that night, the waves were at record depths and the winds blew at tremendous speed as the driving rain battered the ship. For hours the ship’s crew fought the storm and struggled to keep the ship from sinking. They knew deep in their hearts it was a lost cause. Finally, realizing his life was coming to an end, the young man threw himself on the deck and pleaded “Lord have mercy on us all!”
John Newton certainly didn’t deserve mercy!…..but he received it that night!
The ship never sank and none of the people on board were harmed.
It was a miracle! It was a sure sign that God exists and he hears our cries for mercy!
John Newton never forgot that!
Unlike many of us, Newton never forgot that God had shown him on that stormy day.
Very soon after that event, John Newton gave up slave trade and became a world renowned Preacher and prolific composer of hymns….
Amazing Grace!
The primary theme of his preaching was this: “God is willing to deliver you from the storms of life!”
Several years later when his health was declining many told Newton to stop preaching! He said, “It’s true that my memory is quickly fading, but there are two things I shall never forget
1. I am a great sinner
2. Jesus is a great savior.

I also want to share with you that Franchesca Stevens is still going through chemo, and then will be going through 16 days of radiation. Also please continue to pray for Annette Garcia, she has pancreatic cancer. We pray for healing for both Franchesca and Annette, in Jesus name, Amen!
My heart broke yesterday when I got thew news that my mentor, teacher from Brown College, Mike Kronforst died of brain cancer.. I still use today, so many things Mike taught me! Mike helped make me the radio announcer I am!
