Many of us have probably been told at one time or another, “It’s not all about you.” It’s true, everything is not all about you, or me. Other people and their feelings often need to be considered when making decisions or doing what needs to be done. Our wants and needs sometimes have to be put on hold or simply ignored for the sake of someone else….and this is how it should be.
Today I want to talk about one time in your life when it really is all about you. When the time comes for you to decide whether or not to accept Jesus into your heart, it becomes all about you. You have to decide what kind of life you want and what kind of person you want to be. You are the only one that can answer when Jesus calls….and you’ll know it’s Him.
We all have faced times when we need a friend, someone to talk to who won’t judge or condemn us….someone who knows our heart. Maybe you need to be reassured that you are loved and that your thoughts and feelings do matter. A parent or BFF might be there for you, but you can’t always tell them every detail about what bothers you. Some things just can’t be uttered out loud….it’s too important, too personal, embarrassing, or maybe too painful to put into words. There’s only one person you can share such things with….Jesus.
Part of the wonder of God’s love is in the fact that He already knows about all these things that bother you….the mistakes you’ve made, the lies you’ve told….and He loves you anyway. You are not just one among billions to Him. You are you. He knows you because He planned you and knew you even before you were born. It is His plan that everybody hears His message and accepts Him for who He is, our Savior. He’ll forgive your sins and take them as far away as the east is from the west. The Bible says in John 3: 17 For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.
With Jesus, it is all about you. Accept His forgiveness. No one else can do the job He has planned for you; no one else has the faith He has given just to you….and no one else can fill that empty feeling inside you. If you feel Him reaching out to you, please don’t shut Him out or ignore Him. Let Him make today all about you….and start living a life full of purpose and love. Then He’ll show you the joy that comes from putting Him first in your life, yourself last, and others in between.
