“And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends . . .” (Job 42:10)
The real purpose and business of my life as a born-again believer is intercessory prayer, the selfless caring for others through prayer. Beloved, do you not realize that God places you in situations, circumstances, and divine appointments with others so that you will immediately pray that His Kingdom come and His will be done in that place, that moment, and that life.
A number of years ago, I heard the story of a woman having terminal cancer and being admitted to a hospital. She was a Christian woman who trusted God, even in her last days, to use her for His glory. She had been placed in a room with another woman, also terminal with cancer. Because the love of Christ constrained her, she began to feel compassion, and prayed for her roommate to be healed of her dreaded disease. In every waking minute, she prayed selflessly for the LORD to work a miracle in the life of this woman she had never before met.
As the story goes, the Christian’s prayers were heard and answered. The roommate was miraculously healed to the surprise of everyone. But, God was not finished with His great work, for it was soon discovered that the Christian woman who chose to spend her last strength and days praying for the well-being of another, was also healed of her disease. It seems the LORD turned her captivity to cancer, when she prayed for another!
My friend, pray for your family and friends; pray for those you come in contact with each day. Pray God’s will be done in them, now!
