Israel and Turkey in Talks to Resume Diplomatic Ties

Diplomats from Israel and Turkey are working towards an agreement towards normalization of relations between the two countries which they hope to finalize in the near future. Ties between the two regional powers, both close allies of the US, hit rock bottom in 2010 following the Mavi Marmarra flotilla incident.

Aliyah from Ethiopia Set to Increase

Israel’s Ministry of Immigrant Absorption announced late Thursday that the remaining Falash Mura Jews of Ethiopia will be brought to Israel by the end of 2020, starting in June when a group of 1,300 will be brought. The announcement marks the end of a political headache for the governing coalition which had seen protests from some of its members over the issue.

Annual Anonymous Attacks Fail to Impress

Computer professionals in Israel reported on Thursday that the annual deluge of cyberattacks threatened by the hacktivist group “Anonymous” against Israeli networks was fairly mild this year. “They want to create a panic,” said Gadi Evron, CEO and co-founder of Cymmetria, and head of a team of Israeli computer engineers which voluntarily comes together to fight off the attacks. “Once a year, Anonymous says, ‘This is the day we will attack Israel.’ Usually, these attacks are not very sophisticated.”
