INTRODUCTION
As Peter shares, we understand that he is speaking from personal experiences in the Lord that are directly related to his own inner growth, enabling him to discern and address a problem within the church: its carnal behavior that is not the image of God.
When we learn to cooperate with the Holy Spirit, to be clothed in humility which is Christ himself, we become teachable and pliable for God to develop His life in us. His ultimate plan for us then will be established successfully, giving expression as light in the earth.
Remember a seed reproduces after its own kind so we give expression to the kind of seed that is operating within us. We can only properly give expression to the Seed, Christ, through the nurturing reality of the Holy Spirit in us. He is committed to establishing the Seed-life (Christ) that is Light within the believer with the final goal of fullness—a vessel fully Light—His kind or image. This depicts what in the end will be a garden-heart established with only the tree of life(Gen. 2:9; Rev 22).
I will be reading from the following Scriptures combined together and expanded in understanding:
- 1 Peter 5:5-11
- Prov 16:2 & 3
1 Peter 5:5-11
[Clothe] WEAR FOR YOURSELVES ( in your soul: the mind, the will=power of choice, & emotions) [,all of you, with] HUMILITY (which is Christ’s virtue that is LIGHT, operating in your mind and heart) [as the garb of a servant, so that its covering cannot possibly be stripped from you, with freedom from pride and arrogance] toward one another. For GOD sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful) — [and He opposes, frustrates, and defeats them=carnal behavior], but (Christ) gives grace (favor, blessing) to the humble (of mind and heart). Thus, humility attracts the Holy Spirit. Humility is an “act” of acknowledging we can do nothing apart from God who is the Treasure within us and by partaking of His own divine nature; the virtue of Humility is established within us as reality. When you have the Treasure, Christ, revealing himself to you, within you—you have “heavenly treasure” being laid up much like currency (Substance) deposited to withdraw from.
*[All the ways of man are pure in his own eyes, but the Lord weighs the spirits—thoughts and intents of the heart. *Prov. 16:2]. Our thoughts and intentsare spirits that come either from areas in our soul that are not yet transformed (bearing full alignment to God) or they are from the Holy Spirit—the mind of Christ. Thus, God is working to align the vessel to what is His thought and intent. (Jer. 29:11)
Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you,
Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on (Christ), for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully. *[Roll your works upon the Lord—commit and trust them wholly to Him; (the Lord Jesus will cause your spirit-thoughts to become agreeable to His divine will, and) so shall your plans (that are aligned in Christ) be established and succeed. *Prov. 16:3]
Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour.
Withstand [the devil] (stand against him by living in Divine Order: animated by the Spirit of Christ on heavenly ground, not the soulish-government, earthly ground); be firm in faith [against (the enemy’s) onset — rooted, established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called you to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Himself complete and make you what you ought to be, establish and ground you securely, and strengthen, and settle you.
To (Christ in you) be the dominion=(power, authority, rule) forever and ever. Amen (so be it). AMP
Internal reality is reflected externally. Only CHRIST can produce CHRIST-life within a vessel. Head knowledge—just a knowing about the things of God without intimacy cultivated, cannot properly bear His image. Christ’s image is grown in us through an ongoing intimate relationship with the Person, Jesus Christ, who is the living Word. Thus, God’s way of increase in a vessel is in the “Seed” concept—conception (Alpha) to fullness (Omega).
Jesus makes you free by imparting His life that is Light in you, recreating you into something that never existed in you before—an entirely New heavenly Creation desired and designed by God to come into fullness that is the measure and stature which belongs to Christ. (Eph. 4:11- 16: The Administration of Increase)
