Kelly Snelgrove
Office Administrator
Valley View Christian Church

I received a phone call on the morning of April 8th from my long time friend and mentor, Pastor Leonard Navarre. Leonard told me he has resigned from Valley View Christian Church in Edgewood, New Mexico. I do not know of any Pastor more loved than Leonard. Leonard and his lovely wife Diana will be moving to Lubbock, Texas to be near their son Brandon and his lovely wife Lisa and the grandchildren. What an AWESOME MOVE! God and family! Amen!

Leonard and Diana formed a powerful team in serving the Edgewood area at Valley View. Now they follow God’s leading to Lubbock!

I met Leonard about 8 years ago when Pastor Don Kimbro introduced me to him. Leonard had just returned from a mission trip to India. From that time we have been very close Friends, Leonard has taught me much over the years, he helped prepare me for what God had planned for me here at FGGAM. Now God has plans for Leonard and Diana in Lubbock.

You see life is all about serving God, and Leonard and Diana have set the example for us all.

It’s all about God.

To live a God-centered life, you must focus on God’s purposes, not your own plans. Try and see things from God’s perspective rather than from your distorted human view.

Sharon and I thank Leonard and Diana for all their Godly support over the years and I will always remember the days Leonard drove from Edgewood to Albuquerque to help me at KKIM radio during New Mexico News and Views. I cannot begin to tell you how much I love this man!

These scriptures fit the life of Leonard and Diana………..

1 Samuel 12:24

Only fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart. For consider what great things he has done for you.

Colossians 3:23-24

Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

2 Corinthians 9:7

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

1 Corinthians 15:58

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

Romans 12:1

I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

Pictured here is me and Pastor Leonard as I honored Leonard at the KIIM 40th Birthday Party 4 years ago. Leonard was so valuable to the radio ministry of KKIM, having helped anchor New Mexico News and Views for years and with his own program, “Your Bible Boost”. Also we have included one of our favorite pictures of Leonard and Diana.

Note from Pastor Dewey: Franklin Graham is the best leader America has. He stands in the gap for God so strongly. I got a packet from him yesterday with the pledge I and several others made at the Prayer rally in Santa Fe, NM on March 16th on the State Capital steps……I pledge to honor God in public—by standing for biblical principles and serving those in need. James 1:27, Isiah 58:10 and 1 Cor. 16:13.

From Franklin Graham:

Donald J. Trump’s desire to make America great again has resonated with many voters across America. However, I have to disagree with him on the statement he made about the NC bathroom law HB2 on The Today Showin an interview with Matt Lauer. He said people should use the bathroom they feel appropriate. He said that if Caitlyn Jenner came to Trump Tower, he could use any bathroom he wanted. That’s Mr. Trump’s prerogative on his own property. But businesses and organizations shouldn’t be forced by law to allow men pretending to be women to use women’s restrooms. NC Governor Pat McCrory and legislators were absolutely right to pass HB2 to protect young girls, boys, and women from sexual predators and perverts. Men have no business using women’s bathrooms and locker rooms. Period.

It’s not up to us to decide our sex—God determines that. The Bible says, “He created them male and female and blessed them.”

Yesterday I got in the mail a packet from the Billy Graham Association. It had in there sort of a recap of the Franklin Graham Prayer rally that was held at the State Capital in Santa Fe on March 16th. It listed the pledge we all made when we attended the rally. I pledge to honor God in public—by standing for Biblical principles and serving those in need. James 1:27, Isaiah 58:10 and Cor. 16:13. Are we doing that? Years ago on KKIM radio, the late, great man of God, Chuck Colson said, “The Church has become nothing but a high school pep rally.” So, was the payer rally at the Capital, just a pep rally? What has changed in New Mexico?  With abortion, the fetal tissue issue at UNM……where are the people of God, where are the voices for God? Who is standing in the gap? Who is acting on the call by Franklin Graham? Please listen to our podcast now, thank you!

The culture of death continues in New Mexico.

The Albuquerque Journal is reporting this morning that House Repubicans produced documents yesterday that they say proves at least one company is illegaly profiting from the study of human fetal tissue. Democrats on the panel say there is no evidence that New Mexico organizations under investigation are profiting. ABQ Journal Report Here

PRINCE’S DEATH IS PERSONAL TO ME
DR. JIM DENISON
APRIL 22, 2016
“It is with profound sadness that I am confirming that the legendary, iconic performer, Prince Rogers Nelson, has died at his Paisley Park residence this morning at the age of 57.” So reported his publicist yesterday, news that made instant headlines around the world.Prince was born on June 7, 1958, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was signed to Warner Brothers Records as a teenager; his debut album in 1978 put him on the road to superstardom.

He was a singer, songwriter, multiple instrumentalist, producer, and actor. Prince was often compared to Michael Jackson and was considered a musical genius by many. He won seven Grammy Awards, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2004.

No stranger to controversy, many of his lyrics were sexually explicit, a fact that prompted a movement encouraging records to place advisory labels on albums with such lyrics. When his death was announced yesterday, CNN reports that fans rushed to buy his albums amid an outpouring of grief on social media.

Prince’s death is especially personal for me. Not because I was an admirer of his music (I’m more a Chicago and James Taylor fan), but because he and I are nearly the same age. His net worth was $300 million, but he proved that all humans are mortal. As novelist Luigi Pirandello noted, “As soon as one is born, one starts dying.”

This month’s National Geographic magazine has a fascinating article called “The Crossing.” It profiles the various ways people respond to death.

Cryonics is one option. A woman is pictured hugging the container where the body of her husband is frozen in the hope that someday he can be thawed and revived. His last words were “Gee, I hope this works.” Residents of an island in Indonesia preserve the bodies of their deceased family members and keep them in their homes for many years. Some feed them as part of the family meal.

Why do so many fear death or pretend that it is not real? John Donne noted:

Death, in itself, is nothing; but we fear,
To be we know not what, we know not where.

In case the poet speaks for you, know this: If Jesus is your Lord, you will never die. Our Savior was explicit: “Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die” (John 11:25–26).

When we take our last breath here, we take our first breath there. When we close our eyes on earth, we open them in heaven. We step from time into eternity, from a fallen world into God’s glorious paradise. And we are home.

So live fully for Jesus today, knowing that this is the only day there is. Jesus could come back today, or you could go to him. We are all mortal. But if we know Jesus, the moment we die, we truly live. The worst that could happen to you is merely the door to the best that could happen to you.

Sir Thomas Browne was a seventeenth-century physician and philosopher. He observed that “we all labour against our own cure, for death is the cure of all diseases.” Will that be true for you?
