Laughter Is Good Medicine…
A joyful heart is good medicine. Proverbs 17:22
I must admit I am a bit more serious on issues and I need to work on laughing more. The Bible says in Proverbs 31:25 She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
Laughter is good for the soul, good hearty medicine.
I have always been a nervous cook, praying that it would all pan out. Sometimes it did and many times it didn’t. I try to follow the recipes right to the mark and leave no room for adjustments. I call it Angel’s Miracle Cooking.
Many years ago now, when my kids were much younger, I made a coffee cake. My family all said it tasted funny. They didn’t like it and had no trouble telling me so. (Family can be brutal at times.) They would all go around like they were trying to spit something out of their mouths after their first piece. The walnuts and chocolate chips didn’t entice them one bit that I so proudly added to the top.
I can’t help but laugh when I think back on that recipe. The ingredients called for one half cup of coffee. I put one half cup of Maxwell coffee grounds. The recipe didn’t tell me to make coffee and it never dawned on me to do it. No wonder they kept going around spitting. The recipe does work much better when you make the coffee and put one half cup.
Sometimes you just need to laugh. Laugh at your mistakes, laugh at yourself. Just have a good laugh today. Be careful about laughing at other’s though. Laughter is good. It makes the heart merry.
Father, thank you for your Word. Thank you for reminding us serious folks to take time to laugh more. Your Word says it is good medicine. Life isn’t perfect and neither are we. Thank you for mercy and grace. May we spread some joy, wherever our paths take us this day.
