Hispanic lawmakers are sharply divided over what to do about Puerto Rico’s debt crisis.
Puerto Rico’s delegate to Congress and several members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus have begrudgingly endorsed a House bill backed by Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) It’s far from sufficient, they say, but the only viable option to help the island avoid a catastrophic default.
