Palestinian Civic Leader Murdered for Cooperating with Israel

Baha Nabata, 31, a community leader from the eastern Jerusalem neighborhood of Shuafat credited with improving the quality of life for residents, was murdered this week after confiding to friends that he had received threats from fellow Arabs over his cooperation with Israel. “There was no other way to address the problems in this camp without being in touch with the Israeli government,” said former Meretz councilman Dr. Meir Margalit. “It’s terrible, but I guess that the type of message to all Palestinians who work with Israel is stop doing it, or you will end up like Nabata.”
