Do We Have To Forgive?
It always seems so easy to say yes to this question, but walking it out isn’t quite as easy.
Dan Allender said it this way: Love is essentially a movement of grace to embrace those who have sinned against us. It is the offer of restoration to those who have done harm, for the purpose of destroying evil and enhancing life. Love can be defined as the free gift that voluntarily cancels the debt in order to free the debtor to become what he might be if he experiences the joy of restoration.
Father, we choose with our will to forgive, not making the injustice that was done right, but because you ask.
Together we pray: Matthew 6:9-13
Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, Forever and ever. Amen.
