Why do I pray? There are many, many answers I could give, but allow this one to rest in your mind and spirit until you finally, and victoriously, get it.
Prayer is the deciding dynamic in spirit conflicts, and ultimately, all conflicts are of a spiritual influence.
“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Ephesians 6:12)
Can you, believer, not see then why our world needs proper intercessors?
It is impossible to be a proper intercessor if your mind, heart, and motives are not perfectly aligned with God. The intercessor must want what God wants. God is winner/victor in the world for mankind over the enemy, Satan. Our Victor, God, not only has a deep desire to continually win against the enemy, because of His intense love for man, He desires to win man back to Himself in relationship by man’s free choice. He wants man to want Him. Man is spirit being; Satan is a spirit being, so this is a spirit conflict for man’s soul.
In intercession, God does not want our sympathies, He wants our identification, first with Him, then in the need another feels. There can be no room for selfish emotion in the intercessor. Emotion can get in the way of God’s will being carried out on the earth . . . “nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt.”
Your emotion may become your sole motivation driving your praying, and you will pray wrongly. Are you determined to have your way, your agenda, your idea, your plans, or, are you determined to be identified with the Almighty God, Who calls you to intercede in His world by giving you discernment into His will? He gives discernment, not simply for knowledge sake, but for intercession sake.
Beloved Christian, God needs proper intercessors in America through these next months, to pray His will to be done on the earth, not your emotional judgment of a political situation. Church, seek God! Seek wisdom! Pray On!
