Fight the Good Fight of Faith

Have you been contending in prayer for an answer from the Lord, but wonder how much longer you can wait? Is the enemy chipping away at your faith? Do you just want to throw up your hands and the air and scream “What’s the use?”

The enemy wants us to give up our faith in God and surrender to our despair.

Let’s identify our enemy?

Ephesians 6:12 tells us,For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

Those principalities, powers, rulers of darkness, and the spiritual hosts of wickedness continually come against us, waging war with us trying to wear us out. We are quipped by God with a shield of faith that quenches all the fiery darts of the wicked one. (Ephesians 6:16)

However, at times, even though we’re holding up our shield of faith, if we’re not fighting the good fight of faith, the enemy will find a way to chip away at our faith shield with those flaming arrows.

Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called and have confessed the good confession in the presence of many witnesses” (1 Timothy 6:12 NKJV).

I like to think of the shield of faith as a force field around me repelling the evil one. And in order to keep the force field activated, I must make the “good confession” that Paul wrote about in First Timothy 6.

When we confessed Jesus as Lord, we were equipped to live a righteous life through the presence of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God.

In order to fight the good fight of faith we are to say what God says in His Word. Saying what God says is making the “good confession” and keeps the faith shield activated.

Here are a few examples on how to keep the shield of faith activated in order to fight the good fight of faith.

When the enemy says: You’re not smart enough to do that.

God says: I give you wisdom. (James 1:5; 1 Corinthians 1:30)

When the enemy says: You don’t have enough.

God says: I will supply all your needs (Philippians 4:19)

When the enemy says: You’re too tired.

God says: I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28-30)

When the enemy says: Your situation is impossible.

God says: All things are possible. (Luke 18:27)

When the enemy says: Nobody loves you.

God says: I love you. (John 3:16; John 3:34)

Fight the good fight of faith by saying what God says. Pressing through the circumstances of life making the “good confession” based on His Word. God is faithful. Trust in Him in His Word strengthens us. Let’s keep up the good fight of faith with our good confession.
