Get Out of Your Head

owl headRomans 3:4 Certainly not! Indeed, let God be true but every man a liar. As it is written: “That you may be justified in your words, And may overcome when you are judged.” (NKJV)

John 3:33 He who has received His testimony has certified that God is true. (NKJV)

Have you ever had one of those days where you are walking in peace and joy then someone calls or comes up to you and says something that smacks you in the forehead? Something deliberately mean or uncalled for……I call them word bullets. The Lord calls them fiery darts. (See my post “Holster Those Rascals” January 23, 2016.) Now, instead of walking in peace and joy, you are fighting a whole conversation in your head.

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. (NKJV)

You can’t seem to turn the conversation off…..what do you do? Instead of having a hissy fit and retaliating, try what helps me, or ask Abba how to kill the head traffic.

2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ. (NKJV)

This means don’t think on that thing that is causing you grief. Cast it down! What does Abba have to say about it? Ask Him, and when your mind acts up, tell yourself what HE says. You get a choice! Look at this:

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, (NKJV)

Matthew 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. (NKJV)

Jesus had people saying things to Him all the time. Word bullets, even in His home town. They talked about Him and were mean, yet He cast those words down and thought on what Abba said to Him. Following are some ways that help me to refocus on Him and what He has said.

I pray in tongues, sing praise and worship songs, or read my Bible…..out loud, because I can still think on the other if I don’t! I go to a mirror and I tell myself….out loud, that what so-and-so said is not true. Abba says….. Sometimes, I use the alphabet to refocus on my Love. For example: A) I Adore You, Jesus B) You are my Beloved C)I Cherish You Lord……and so on.

Spend time getting your mind renewed by reading your Bible (Romans 12:1,2) and especially by spending time with Him…asking Him regarding things and waiting on His answers. You hear His voice…that beautiful still, small voice.

Regrets? Leave them in the past. There is nothing you can do about them so let them go and don’t give them thought. My friend Peggi says, “Don’t live there Dawn.” That’s a good word!

Keep no record of wrongs, nor replay the issue in your head or to others. It only feeds the fire.

1 Corinthians 13:5 Love does not demand its own way. Love is not irritable, and it keeps no record of when it has been wronged. (NLT)

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things. (NKJV)

Proverbs 4:20-23 My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; For they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.(NKJV)

The Victorious Warrior lives in you! Agree with Him! Amen!
