What a whirlwind of a week. I may have met my match on weeping. Most who know me know that I cry at the drop of a hat; quite often over something as silly as a ®Kleenex commercial, but more often than not it’s when I feel the Holy Spirit moving over me and it breaks my heart for someone or something. But from the moment my Facebook and ministry friend at FGGAM.org, Dewey Moede, met… we’ve been weeping. It’s just beyond explanation to see how the Holy Spirit moves and makes you feel as if this is your hometown, your people, your plight. And I guess in some way it is. After all, we’re all God’s people. We should all be working for the common goal of seeing folks come to the saving grace of Jesus Christ.
And such was the case in Windom, Minnesota last light. I donned the platform to fiddle, play the guitar and sing with a piano player I called my Minnesota Miss Betty. The folks at Victory Baptist Church will get that if they were there when our Miss Betty played the piano. This woman was a jewel and a piano player extraordinaire who covered all my fiddle blunders and told me I was awesome. Multiple denominations were there, but other than those whom I knew to be Baptist I couldn’t tell you who they were. We were just children of God, worshiping together and celebrating our hometown… well their hometown… mine for the night.
I watched as they loved on each other, as coaches came together pre-revival to start a moral change in their community… Hello! Can I get a witness that things are happening in Windom. They told stories, they cried… Oh, they’re all criers! I love that about them! We sang songs of praise, we heard few sermons and a few sermonettes and all pointed to Christ. It’s been a great few days with a few more to go.
Tonight we’ll gather back at the BARC, a gorgeous community hall in Windom. Revival starts at 5 and I anticipate that the Holy Spirit will be there by three, waiting on us. God loves to show up, and He especially shows up in a crowd of people who are hungry, humble and Heavenly focused. That’s been my experience in Windom. I think they call it “Minnesota nice.” And I agree.
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. ~ Isaiah 57:15
