“Gross Injustice”

The Obama Administration has made resettling Syrian refugees in the United States a top priority. In spite of overwhelming public opposition — only 36% of Americans support Obama’s plan — the president set an ambitious goal of 10,000 Syrian refugees and he met that goal.

In fact, according to a recent report by Fox News, Obama exceeded that goal — resettling 10,801 Syrian refugees in the United States over the past year. Incredibly, however, 10,722 of them are Muslims. That’s 99.3%.

Just 56 of the 10,801 refugees are Christians.

Even though Secretary of State John Kerry has previously acknowledged that radical Islamists are committing genocide against Christians and other religious minorities in Iraq and Syria, our refugee policy overwhelmingly benefits Muslims.

This doesn’t make any sense and actually violates the letter of the law. I am not suggesting that Muslims aren’t suffering. But as we have previously noted, U.S. law specifically states that religious minorities are to be granted preference in our refugee policy.

When it comes to the Middle East, Christians — not Muslims — are among the minority. So how can it be that so few are being admitted?

My friend Nina Shea, director of the Hudson Institute’s Center for Religious Freedom, blasted the Obama Administration, saying, “This is de facto discrimination and a gross injustice.” I couldn’t agree more.

Christians Must Vote

Reverend Franklin Graham has been traveling the country, visiting every state capital, urging men and women of faith to vote this year. This week, he posted an urgent message on Facebook page that I want to share with you.

“I’m not telling people who to vote for, but I am telling Christians to vote. I believe the election coming up in November is the most critical in our lifetime — so much hangs in the balance. Do everything you can to make sure your family members and friends are registered to vote as well. Read up on the candidates and pray about who you should vote for. . . The question to ask is which one most closely aligns with biblical values.”
The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association provided a brief comparison of the two parties’ platforms. You can read it here. For more information, you can read the full Democratic Party platform here and the full Republican Party platform here.

Meanwhile, voter registration deadlines in many states are fast approaching. Believe it or not, absentee ballots are already going out and early voting is set to begin later this month.

Are you registered to vote? How about your friends and family members? Please do everything you can to make sure all your friends and family members are informed and registered to vote. Use this link to register today.
