Would you take notice, a mere thirty-one words? We have seemed to forget the power of the will to make this nation work at its best. Notice also, I did not say work at perfection. However, when the collective wills of any nation’s citizens are working toward any good end, the success of that end improves daily.
Notice also that the opposite becomes just as powerful. The extreme selfishness of the word “liberty” has caused America to lose her will, to remain “indivisible”. Today the title, which brought respect, desire, and even fear in many cases, The United States of America, is no longer a title bearing a statement of truth.
On this day, the bold, uniting statement, which we once willed together, has become a lie. Some people over the years have fought to change the wording of this pledge. In the minds of some, the words, “under God”, were offensive and must be removed. So far, they have lost the fight to change the words, but they have won the battle to change the will. America has lost her will. Therefore, America has lost her way.
Notice with me as well, even if we were to change the pledge back to its original by removing the words, “under God”; there is another phrase we have willed to throw out as unimportant: “ justice for all.”
Justice for all! JUSTICE FOR ALL!
O God, may You please bring back to the heart of America, the will to remain under God, with the desire to seek justice for all!
