Good Morning Beautiful People…Pray and Vote…
Good morning beautiful people, let’s pray for wisdom for the upcoming election. Let’s make a commitment to vote.
The Lord said in James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.
Lord, we receive our wisdom according to your Word.
I love my Protestant faith, it was what I grew up in and it’s what I know. As a woman who wants to know truth, I read and study my Bible. Being a Protestant makes me no closer to God than my Catholic brothers and sisters in Christ. I remember one day praying something like this. God, are you God of the Catholic’s or God of the Protestants? Who are you really God of? He does answer.
I have spent time getting to know people of the Catholic faith, people that believe a little differently than I. I studied God’s Word and talked with people in both the Catholic faith and the Protestant faith. This was my discovery and I believe God’s answer to my prayer.
There are true followers of Jesus Christ in both faiths. There are people that go to church because it is a social event and they are not true followers of Jesus. There are man made rules in both faiths. I understand now what Jesus meant when He said pray like this:
Matthew 6:9-13 Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.
Jesus didn’t say Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your catholic church or protestant church hallowed be your name. He said kingdom. I believe that is a key. The Word of God is the final authority, whether you are of either faith.
Jesus loves people and so should we. I had a pastor once that encouraged us to study the Bible for ourselves. He very humbly said, I see things a bit different than what I taught a while back. He had grown in his faith as he studied the Word. I respected him as a teacher and leader of the church in which I attended. If he could see things differently now, I wanted to make sure what I was being taught was accurate no matter where I worshipped. I took Him up on his advice to the congregation that day. It has been a journey that I wouldn’t trade for any amount of money. The wealth I have hidden in my heart from the Holy Scriptures is beyond any earthly wealth I have or will ever obtain. Riches are not just in money. It makes me think of the scripture in Hosea 4:6. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.
I just spent a weekend away as part of a team at an ACTS retreat in the little town of Frenchville, Maine. The Catholic Church hosted this life changing event and I was privileged to be part of the team. Just a month ago, I was part of a team that hosted Healing Waters Women’s Conference at Whited Bible Camp (Protestant) in the little town of Bridgewater, Maine. I believe that is what God is saying about the kingdom. He didn’t name one or the other in the prayer. We need to stop believing that one is right and the other is wrong. Let’s embrace His Word and be the best Kingdom people we can be. Let’s stop trying to change each other and let the Holy Spirit do His work in each of our lives. Let’s not just believe something because someone taught us or told us. Let’s commit to study too. That way if someone sees things differently down the road, we have our own relationship with the Holy Spirit teaching us as the Protestant preacher said. Let’s be bridge builders as the Catholic priest said to me on my first ACTS retreat. Jesus loves people and His heart is that none should perish. That should be our heart too.
I want to leave you with this and please promise me you will listen to the end. Please vote according to the Holy Scriptures whether you are Catholic or Protestant. God is watching over His Word. (Jeremiah 1:12) I loved this priests boldness and commitment to the Holy Scriptures. He will be rewarded by God.
