There’s a line from an old Roger Miller song that goes: “Everything changes a little and it should. The good ain’t for ever and the bad ain’t for good.” I can’t count the times these words have brought me comfort and encouragement when going through some trying circumstances….along with the Lord’s reminder that: “It shall come to pass.” and “Be still and know that I am God.”
Everything does change a little, some for worse, some for better. Some of these changes come about naturally, such as aging, while other changes are made on purpose. Some things change instantly and others take time. We probably all know someone who has undergone drastic changes…. or experienced them personally.
Some changes are good, while others not so much. Such as the changes we have seen in our country in recent years and even months. These changes in some areas of America has made our beloved country almost unrecognizable. The term “one nation under God ” has been challenged along with the words of our national anthem. Satan and his followers are determined to take God out of our government and out of our country. But the one whose name is above all others is still in charge!
Change comes the instant we decide to believe and accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. The degree of change is determined by the degree of our faith….which grows as we get to know Him better. Change for our country will come as we who believe begin to practice our faith more openly and share the love of Jesus with the unsaved among us.
We have seen more recently, the changes that come when God’s people do stand up and say “No, this is not acceptable,” These changes will take time and may be slow in coming but if we are faithful and stand for righteousness it will happen. The Holy Spirit is moving in the hearts of God’s people right now and we see the results.
Franklin Graham recently finished visiting the 50th state in his Decision America tour. This was a huge undertaking to bring God’s word to His people and encourage Christians across America to get involved in the decisions of our government. Thousands of people stood in prayer with him and many made the decision to follow Jesus while others decided to serve in various ways.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
What a change we will see in our country if we can rid ourselves of the sin and corruption that is being revealed every day within our current administration and God’s people begin to stand up. Let’s continue to pray and praise the Lord for all the changes yet to come!
1 Cor. 15:51 Behold, I show you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.
