Israel Pays Tribute to Yitzhak Rabin

Israel honored the memory of Yitzhak Rabin on Sunday, which marked 21 years since his assassination. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu led a memorial ceremony at Mt. Herzl military cemetery in Jerusalem, declaring during his remarks that Israel has always tried to continue Rabin’s quest for a peace deal with the Palestinians while the Palestinian Authority has consistently avoided taking steps that would bring it closer.

Israel Blesses the World

The IDF announced on Sunday that it’s Type 3 field hospital has been recognized by the United Nations as the best of its kind in the world, based on a remarkable track record of responding to emergencies and natural disasters around the world. Elsewhere, the US-Israel Binational Industrial Research and Development Foundation announced millions of dollars in grants this week to joint US and Israeli companies working to develop pollution reducing technologies.

Iran Building Missiles in Syria

Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Bagheri confirmed over the weekend that the Islamic Republic is not only supplying weapons and military gear to various Shi’ite militias fighting in Syria but is manufacturing weapons in the Assad-regime controlled neighborhoods of Aleppo. Specifically, Iran is fabricating missiles in the city, some of whom Bagheri claimed were used by the Shi’ite terror militia Hezbollah during its war with Israel in 2006.

Israeli Athletes Victorious Around the World

Israeli water skiiers had a big weekend, with Lior Sofer winning the gold medal at the Cable Wakeboard Open World Championships at the Morelos Acuaski Action Park in Mexico on Saturday, while Guy Firer took the bronze in the men’s open event. Ori Boujo also won a silver medal in the women’s competition. Elsewhere, the Israeli national soccer team won a qualifying match for the 2018 World Cup defeating Albania 3-0 on Saturday.

Israel Remembers Leonard Cohen

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu led a chorus of grief from Israeli political and cultural leaders Thursday evening on the passing of legendary vocal artist Leonard Cohen at the age of 82. “I’ll never forget how he arrived to sing to soldiers during the Yom Kippur War, out of a sense of solidarity,” Netanyahu tweeted.
