Perhaps we thought that with the conclusion of the Presidential election there would be peace. For those of us who prayed that God’s will be done, the outcome surely brought a great sense of relief and renewal of hope for a new direction for our country. Even if we didn’t particularly like Donald Trump, most of us saw that the policies he spoke about were the ones we want to see enforced. He is pro-life and has promised to protect our religious freedoms, stop illegal immigration, and build a wall that hopefully will stop some of the drugs and true deplorables from entering into the USA.
Peace was short lived however as protesters and those who had wanted to elect our first woman President found the results unacceptable. For days now, we have watched as rioters burn and destroy many areas of our cities….and for what reason? They are angry. Anger and hate seems to have become all too familiar in our country lately. So many are hurting and in need of help. too many are dying and so much crime. Is this what we want for our country?
For months we were reminded that if God’s people would pray and turn from our wicked ways, God would hear our cries and heal our land. I believe this is exactly what happened. It is not His people who are rioting and destroying our cities. Some say many of them are being paid to loot and burn. It hurts to see this happening and most of all it feels like our current President has no desire to even try to put a stop to it. Let’s face it, right now we have no leadership and even the law enforcement cannot put an end to the madness.
Did we not realize that Satan would be angry and encourage such behavior once God made his decision to give our nation one more chance to turn back to Jesus? The answer for us is to continue to pray for our country and it’s people. As Christians we should be rejoicing and praising the name of Jesus. We cannot let Satan defeat us or discourage us. Our God has overcome the world and it’s sin. The healing will start as salvation comes….one person at a time.
God’s peace that passeth understanding fills the hearts of those who come to the realization that Jesus is the answer to the problems they face. It is our responsibility to share His love and his plan of salvation. Now is not the time to return to our comfort zones and be quiet. We must continue to pray and keep His name on the tip of our tongue, ready to freely exhault Him at every opportunity.
God has shed His grace on America!! We should rejoice and be glad at the wonder of His mighty works!! Meditate on His greatness and His love. Though there is rioting in the streets and turmoil still exists, above all our hope and trust in God should be renewed as His mercy for us is everyday. Let us follow the advice given in 1 Thessalonians 5.
5 Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day; we are not of the night nor of darkness. 6 Therefore…let us watch and be sober. 8….putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation. 9. For God has not appointed us to wrath… 14 …warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men. 15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man, but ever follow that which is good…16 Rejoice evermore. 17 Pray without ceasing. 18 In every thing give thanks; for this is the will of God…19 Quench not the Spirit. 21 Prove all things; hold fast to that which is good. 22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
Jesus tells us in John 14: 27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth …Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
Let us do away with political correctness that tells us not to offend others by sharing our faith. Only the guilty are offended by the truth of God’s love, but only by hearing it will they ever believe and find peace for themselves. The peace we seek comes not simply by stopping the wars and riots. It is a peace that assures us we are safe in the care of a God who loves us and has promised He will never leave or forsake us.
