“ . . . The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16b)
Many pray; few pray with power. This verse gives clear understanding of the foundation of powerful praying; a righteous man praying with great effort of heart and spirit.
There are issues in every life, but our issues do not need to remain as hindrances to powerful results in our praying. When we are admonished to “Watch and pray,” it may be understood that we are to be alert to the issues of life that keep us from “walking in the Spirit” and power in prayer. Some of the weak links of walking in good fellowship with the LORD will include: self-reliance, selfishness, disobedience, unbelief, fear, unforgiveness, anger, and sorrow or grief.
The Apostle Paul said, “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him Who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
This is speaking of a believer that doesn’t just get by. This talks of one who wins over and above any old ordinary victory over the hindering issues of life. He doesn’t just conquer them; he destroys them and the power of them over him. He is a winner! He is more than a conqueror! He is a power to reckon with in the spirit realm through his effectual, fervent, righteous praying. Christian, is that you? Everything is in place to help you to become a powerful prayer force. Pray On!
