Disappointment is the feeling of sadness, displeasure, or dissatisfaction that one may have following the failure of expectations or hopes to manifest. Similar to regret, it differs in that a person feeling regret focuses primarily on the personal choices that contributed to a poor outcome, while a person feeling disappointment focuses on the outcome itself. It is a source of psychological stress.
This is often the result when one has appointed, chosen, or selected gifts, given or received, as the object of one’s Christmas celebration. When one is competing for pleasure, given or received through gifts of objects, it often leads to selfish let down, disappointment. There is, after all, only one Gift to give or receive which never disappoints, Jesus Christ, the Reason for the Season. How is your Morning After?
