New Mexico ranks 49th in the nation for education and this is principally due to illiteracy and the progressive ideology of social promotion otherwise known as everyone gets a trophy.
Last year nearly 7,000 third graders failed reading aptitude tests and less than 5% of parents were informed of their child’s inability to read while the student (so-called) was promoted to the fourth grade.
The schools failed to follow the law on notification but the parents failed to notice their 8 year-old could not even read “Good Night Moon”.
