A brief update from the family of David Maddox:
Thank you to everyone who has called or sent notes, emails, messages, and texts expressing your love and support for our family during this time. The outpouring has been truly amazing and has done so much to help us get through the past couple of days.
The man we knew as our Dad and Grandpa was a man of gigantic zeal and passion who lived every moment with the goal of serving God and helping others to know Him. The letters of encouragement we have received from those who have been affected by his life, love, and ministry have been unbelievable and serve to illustrate the kind of impact one person can have if they wholeheartedly love and serve Jesus to their very last breath.
On Monday night, January 2nd, at around 6:50pm our Dad left his earthly home to spend some quality time with his Heavenly Father. He was at his home, surrounded by his wife and family at the time of his passing.
David Maddox was an equally amazing husband, father, grandfather, lawyer, and Bible teacher. We mourn his passing and the void that is left in our lives, but it was his time. We are praising the Lord’s goodness for taking Dad to a place where he isn’t limited or afflicted by stomach cancer any longer, and where he is finally complete with a new body and a new lease on eternity.
Many have asked about arrangements for a service. Plans have not yet finalized, but we are hoping to schedule a memorial service and celebration of David’s life for sometime in February. For our out-of-state friends, the service will be held in Phoenix but we have not yet arranged a location. The reason for our postponement until February is that we have a member of our immediate family who is unable to travel due to a pregnancy, so we are waiting until Mother + Baby are safe and healthy so they will be able to join us for the celebration.
The last words any of us heard my dad say were the words he lived by: “To God be the glory.” We couldn’t say it any better.
To God be the glory. Thank you, Lord, for giving him to us for 70 amazing years.
