It seems to me that the budget philosophy of the State of New Mexico is to rob Peter to pay Paul. The state is in a financial mess. No reason to try and hide from it. The state is paying dearly for not planning for a rainy day, the fallout of gas and oil prices. The state has failed for years to plan for the diversification of the economy. The state has bathed itself in oil and gas money and now is paying for that behavior. I am sorry, but if you did not see this train wreck coming, please go to the eye doctor. Now we have to rob our already failing education system to stay afloat. There is no long term financial planning going on. The average Joe, like me and you, would suffer severe ramifications from no financial planning. No plan, no gain. ABQ Journal Report
With all my heart and soul, I say all the answers to this are in the Bible, if people will take the time to seek God and His Word and Ways! Amen!
Proverbs 22:7
The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.
Luke 16:11
If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?
Luke 14:28-30
For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’
Hebrews 13:5
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
I have so many friends that are teachers….they pour their hearts out for our kids! I am heartbroken as to what has happened at Albuquerque Public Schools and over the entire sdtate, and continue to have a broken heart. Education in New Mexico is broken because of politics. It is a system that financially is out of control, it created a monster, a monster that just spends money and more money and now they find out there is none. Where did the money go? It certainly did not go to our kids and teachers. Teachers/parents/students protested outside of Albuquerque Public School headquarters yesterday. The protests are against the looming layoffs, pay cuts and class size increases because of the state budget shortfall while education reserved money is being used to balance the state budget.
