US Senate Urges Action on Anti-Semitic Threats

An official letter signed by all 100 members of the US Senate was sent to the White House on Tuesday urging the Trump Administration to address the spike in anti-Semitic incidents across the US in recent weeks.  “We write to underscore the need for swift action with regard to the deeply troubling series of anonymous bomb threats,” the letter read.

Israelis Mark Women’s Day 2017

Dozens of events were held around Israel on Wednesday to mark international Women’s Day, with the IDF deploying female officers to give interviews and lead seminars to highlight advances Israeli women have made in the armed forces and society in general. “I have a lot of support from my family and my husband, and that is really necessary when it comes to my work,” Maj. Shiran Hashay Levy, head operations officer of the Haifa District and the mother of three boys, told the Jerusalem Post.

Eilat Signs Agreement with Government for Expansion

Eilat, Israel’s resort city and port on the shores of the Red Sea, signed an agreement with the national government this week which will see a massive increase in construction, including hundreds of residential units, several new hotels, shopping malls, warehouses, industrial zones, schools and other related infrastructure. In total, the town is projected to almost double in physical size, with an expected large increase in population and economic capacity.

Israeli Sports Fans Get Another Reason to Cheer

17-year-old Israeli fencer Vera Kanevski won a gold medal Tuesday night at the European Junior Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria on Tuesday night. “I didn’t think this day would end like this,” said Kanevski. “I’m happy that everything fell into place.”

Israel Blesses the World

The AstroRad Radiation Shield, an Israeli developed vest capable of shielding astronauts from solar particles in deep space is part of the equipment set to be tested by NASA astronoughts on their next lunar mission. Tel-Aviv-based StemRad, which developed the vest, has already seen a belt it produced to protect rescue workers from gamma ray radiation in the event of nuclear disasters considered for adoption by several countries.
