Crisis in Arab Gulf Deepens
The growing crisis between the Persian Gulf emirate of Qatar and its neighbors took another turn for the worse on Tuesday evening when Jordan announced it was downgrading, but not yet cutting, diplomatic relations and revoking the license of Doha-based TV channel Al Jazeera, which is linked to the Moslem Brotherhood. Qatar has also sought assistance from nearby Kuwait, but on Tuesday, US President Donald Trump dove into the discussion by posting on Twitter that Qatar had been identified to him by several Arab leaders during his recent visit to the region as a prime supporter of Hamas and other terrorist organizations.
